Brief Description

The Suffolk GP Federation have developed a Cervical Screening Service that runs weekday evenings and weekends at clinics across Suffolk. The programme involves co-production with CCGs, Health Partners, GP Practices, Community Organisations and patients to increase the uptake of screening in ‘hard to reach groups’.

The programme has now reached a new phase involving a new approach to develop an education programme to enable changing of mindsets in patients and general practice and identify further areas of low uptake and the greatest need for support and specific groups with low take-up rates and barriers to attendance. We are developing a team of Health Educators to work alongside practices in east and west Suffolk to increase uptake.

We are looking for registered cervical screening sample takers who are highly motivated and enthusiastic to join our team.  You will also need to be passionate about making a change to health equalities.

This is a Band 7 equivalent, part-time fixed term contract for a period of one year.

The main aim of the role is to support practices and various stakeholders including further education facilities in training, preparation and support that their staff need to increase their uptake. Alongside, this you will work with service users to address barriers.

Your role will be within a team of four health Educators and you will be required to work remotely at various locations across Suffolk.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and negotiation skills, be able to work under pressure and at pace and have a flexible approach with the ambition to support and develop the skills and education programme. Experience in health promotion/ health education is desirable but not essential.
