Brief Description

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nurse or Allied Health Care Professional to join the established Diabetes Multidisciplinary Team in North East Essex to support the ongoing development and advanced diabetes management within Primary Care.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience in the Primary Care setting with an element of autonomous practice in Diabetes Management.

North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS) is an award winning, progressive service, consisting of a team of 3 diabetes consultants / endocrinologists, 18 Specialist diabetes practitioners with varying backgrounds in nursing, dietetics, mental health, podiatry and health coaching and an excellent admin team to support.

We provide specialist diabetes care to support the 21,000 people living with diabetes across North East Essex, in the form of specialist diabetes clinics to the most complex cases, young persons, pre pregnancy, antenatal, insulin pump and MDT foot clinics, numerous diabetes structured education courses for both type 1 & 2 Diabetes.


We have a strong emphasis on working closely with Primary Care to proactively enhance the care of people living with diabetes through education sessions, mentorship and in practice support. The successful candidate will be central to the planning and engagement of Primary Care colleagues in the Practice Enhanced Service and future developments of education events.
Ongoing development in to a specialist practitioner will be encouraged with the support of a development framework for the management of complex diabetes patients.


We pride ourselves on our close collaborative working with multiple local hospital and community services, lifestyle services, health in mind, pharmacy and the CCG. We are an enthusiastic, friendly team and strive to provide a patient centred, safe, effective and high-quality service. Regular CPD is scheduled for the team and on an individual basis to support ongoing evidenced based practice and encourage audit and research within the service.

The NEEDS team is based in Colchester, Essex which is a historic market town steeped in Roman history. It is 50 miles from London and the closest airport is London Stanstead 20 miles away.
