Diabetes Specialist Nurse (Development post)

Are you a Specialist Nurse looking for a change? We do things a bit differently.

Our team is expanding and we are looking for dynamic, forward-thinking individuals to join our clinically-led team.

What’s the role?

  • You’ll work across specialist community services and primary care, with close links to secondary care.
  • You’ll manage a clinical caseload, utilising your expert skills in diabetes and diabetes technologies.
  • You’ll deliver various patient and health professional education sessions.

We are proud of our North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS); it’s an award winning, progressive service with a multi-disciplinary team who are experts in their fields.

We provide specialist diabetes care to the 21,000 people living with diabetes across North East Essex, in the form of specialist diabetes clinics for the most complex cases, young persons, pre pregnancy, antenatal, insulin pump and MDT foot clinics, numerous local and national diabetes patient structured education courses and a strong emphasis on up skilling and supporting primary care via education sessions, mentorship and in practice support alongside supporting delivery of Diabetes Masters modules at the University of Essex.

We pride ourselves on our close collaborative working with multiple local community services, lifestyle services, health in mind, pharmacy and the CCG. We are an enthusiastic, friendly team and strive to provide a patient centred, safe, effective and high quality service. We nurture an environment of supportive learning with regular CPD scheduled for the team and as well as on an individual basis to support ongoing evidenced based practice and we strongly encourage audit and research within the service.

The service is run by Suffolk GP Federation CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company.

  • Effective group facilitation and general presentation skills, with an understanding of the training and development initiatives in diabetes would be desirable.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential.
