About us-

Suffolk GP Federation is a not-for-profit community interest organisation owned by 57 GP practices covering the Suffolk region. Members remain independent organisations, whilst working together to develop local primary care. Working alongside our partners at Ipswich hospital creates a unique setting for clinicians to utilise their primary care skills in a dynamic and interesting environment working within the hospital setting.

How does it work?

Patients are streamed at the front door of ED by our Streaming Clinician. They are booked and directed to an appointment with our GP.

You can admit / refer patients direct to hospital specialities without returning the patient to ED

What does a clinic look like?

  • Patients are likely to be high acuity cases
  • Presentations are varied
  • Appointments are 15 minutes with a cap on appointments per clinic
  • A variety of day time shifts are available from 08:00 - 19:30 Monday - Sunday
  • SystmOne is the clinical system, with EMIS Viewer available
  • Flexible, hybrid and regular contracting arrangements available

What you can expect from us

  • A visible and supportive management team, with operational support that ‘get it’
  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Individual induction tailored to your experience of working across Suffolk and primary care, including an optional (paid) shadow shift
  • A strong ethos of flexible working, to help us maintain (or reclaim) that work/life balance. Shifts are available to book on a bank basis enabling you to structure your working week., on a PAYE or self-employed basis
  • Looking for something more permanent? Contracted shifts are also available
  • A commitment to personal development, training and leadership opportunities, with service-managed training budgets
  • Support during the shift:
    • Peer support: work with practice nurses, front door streaming clinician and one other GP/ANP during your shift
