Are you looking for a new role?
We are looking to expand our team of Base Appointment Bookers within our Out of Hours Service in Suffolk.

What’s the role?

  • You’ll be based at Riverside Clinic in Ipswich within our Control Room.
  • The Base Appointment Booker’s role is to help ensure the service runs smoothly and efficiently by managing the patients by booking appointments and assisting the shift Coordinator.
  • You will help ensure that patients are seen by our clinicians, either at one of our Out of hours bases or at the patients' home.
  • You’ll work with a supportive team, consisting of base appointment bookers who are responsible for making the appointments for the patients, a Clinical Shift Lead, who supports the control room from a clinical perspective and a Shift Co-Ordinator who oversees the shift and manages the home visits.
  • You’ll also help balance the workload of our clinicians on shift, helping identify suitable times to take breaks.

The face-to-face Out of Hours Service is run by Suffolk GP Federation CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company.

Is it for me?
We will make sure you are fully inducted and trained. It’s important to us that you feel safe and supported in your role.

  • You’d be suited to this role if you have high levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient-focused service and have good problem-solving skills
  • You’ll need good communication skills and a caring and empathetic nature
  • It’s important that you can work well as part of a team as well as independently and have the ability to remain calm under pressure
