Brief Description

Podiatry Apprentice

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time podiatry apprentice to join our innovative and supportive podiatry team in September 2024. This is a developmental role, in which the post holder will work towards the successful completion of a BSc (Hons) degree in podiatry – it will be a four-year programme directly related to the Apprenticeship standard, combining work-based learning with mandatory off-the job study.

What is the role?

  • You will work towards becoming a qualified podiatrist, who will specialise in the lower limb (feet, ankles, and legs).
  • You will provide high quality clinical care to patients of all ages, and will provide preventative advice, care, assessment, and treatment of a range of problems.
  • You will combine academic and work-based learning, and will form close working relationship with your colleagues and education providers.

You’ll join our Podiatry service, which is delivered by Suffolk GP Federation. We are a not-for-profit, community interest company and our main purpose is to support Primary Care across Suffolk, including support with working collaboratively and at scale. We also deliver a portfolio of NHS services across Suffolk and North East Essex, including Podiatry, Ultrasound, Diabetes, as well as Urgent Care Services including the Out of Hours face-to-face Service in Suffolk.

Is it for me?

We will work alongside the successful candidate to ensure they are sufficiently inducted and trained; there will be regular constructive supervision in place. It is important to us that you feel safe and supported in the role.

  • The successful applicant will hold a grade A-C in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • You will need a high level of commitment to manage both degree level study and a commitment to the employer/patient care.
  • You will require 120 UCAS points, which will include the following:

-3 A Levels (minimum BBB) including biology and chemistry.

-Access to HE diploma with 60 credits overall and 45 level 3 credits

-Evidence of recent academic achievement

-UK right of abode (for university admission)

Contract type:

This will be a full-time role, combining your work and learning in a 37.5-hour week. The apprenticeship will be 4 years in length, and this contract will be a fixed term role for the duration of the apprenticeship. Interviews for this position will be held late May.

What we can offer you:

  • A strong ethos of flexible working, to help us maintain (or reclaim) that work/life balance.
  • Innovative teams who strive in forward thinking, with a voice that is heard.
  • A visible and supportive management team, with operational support that ‘get it’
  • Excellent IT teams & support giving us first class equipment and ‘no wait’ responses
  • A commitment to personal development, training, and leadership opportunities, with service-managed training budgets
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Death in service cover
  • Competitive salaries with annual benchmarking
  • 27 days holiday (plus bank holidays) on starting, rising to 29 days (plus bank holidays) after 5 years’ service
  • Blue light card employer – Access to the discount service with thousands of discounts online and on the high street.
