Brief Description

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our team on a bank basis, working as part of our Public Health services. This includes NHS Health Checks and Lung Cancer Screening.

The primary focus of this role will be to deliver NHS Health Checks across Suffolk. This is an agile role with no fixed location. We are particularly interested in applicants who are available to deliver Health Checks in the following locations and their surrounding areas:

  • Lowestoft
  • Bury St Edmunds

What is the role?

  • You will work independently to deliver NHS Health Checks, with remote support from our Nurse Lead and dedicated administrators.
  • You will conduct point-of-care testing as part of the NHS Health Check, to assess and record the health status of service users.
  • You will provide service users with appropriate advice and education regarding lifestyle and health behaviours.
  • You will receive full training on delivering NHS Health Checks in Suffolk before undertaking the role independently.
  • You may also have the opportunity to deliver Lung Health Checks as part of Suffolk’s Lung Cancer Screening service, subject to service demand.
  • You will place service users at the heart of everything you do, ensuring they leave feeling informed and supported, with a clear understanding of how to improve their health.

NHS Health Checks are delivered by Suffolk GP Federation. We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, with a primary aim of supporting Primary Care across Suffolk through collaborative working at scale.

We also deliver a wide portfolio of NHS services across Suffolk and North East Essex, including Podiatry, Ultrasound, Diabetes Services, and Urgent Care, including the Out of Hours face-to-face service in Suffolk.

Is it for me?

We will work closely with the successful candidate to ensure a comprehensive induction and training programme is in place, alongside regular, constructive supervision. It is important to us that you feel safe, confident, and supported in your role.

  • You will ideally have previous experience in community outreach or public health initiatives and be familiar with NHS Health Checks and their objectives.
  • You will have experience using Microsoft Office applications and rota systems.
  • You will be adaptable and able to work sensitively and effectively with diverse populations.

This is a bank contract, working across various locations in Suffolk and Waveney. Shifts are available across daytime, evenings, and weekends.
